Dinner and Drinks

We had a Business Manner training catered to the foreigners and we went for dinner with the trainer. 18 of us, just doing what the Japanese will do - 飲み会

The bill was 4000yen per person. Imagine I signed it on my credit card. Next month I will see the bill. *faint*

We headed to Prince Hotel for drinks at the highest level. Great view, nice chill out place. But as usual, the bill for such places are not that nice on the wallet. 2 drinks cost 3000yen. There goes the plan to save up.

Sandwich

We went to a sandwich shop near our place which was featured in the Television show.

Really small shop with 4 tables and a counter. Nice laid back place where the owner will take his time to prepare you a good meal. Very friendly guy who chatted with us about our country etc.

My meal turned out to be REALLY big. I did not eat 2 meals after that. Cost me $15. Pretty good meal.

Health while Drinking

Trust Japan to make drinking healthy. Vegetable Cocktail, and apparently it is generating pretty good sales

Buys for the season

I am a sucker for seasonal snacks. Grape Kitkat!!!

How do you know autumn is round the corner? The autumn flavour for Kirin beer is out. 6% alc, but I dont really like the taste.

And seeing that I am broke and down. I decided to buy some stuff to cheer me up. Seeing that my ipod is dead, to tide me over till I get enough cash for my ipod; I bought myself a Toshiba player.

And I got a casio DW5600E, which is the newer version of the watch Keanu Reeves wore in "SPEED". I know I know, I stoped wearing digital watches and declared my love for only analogue timepieces. But call it mid life crisis, but I am finding my love for my g-shock.

While finding the DW5600, I found this really cool looking watch. It has the inverted screen which I find so charming. Solar powered and tunes the time automatically over the Atomic Frequency to keep it always accurate. How cool is that!

I know you all must be thinking that I spent alot of the watches and the player, but it was all bought with the welfare points my company provided. Which means I did not spent a single cent.

Waiting for my grapes and pears to be delivered! Hmmm....I wonder what watch I should get next!

Gatherings

The Global people met up for a follow up feed back session and we followed it with a session of KTV. It has been some time since I met the other guys...Ome sucks you in!

I cooked some curry for my Japanese friends over a hot pot party. They seem to find it pretty spicy, but I already made it pretty mild. Gave them some durian cake to try, but they just gushed the beer down after that. Hmm...seems like it is not their most favoured taste!

Had a Friday gathering with the Ome peeps with beer, 53% kaoliang and food. Somehow, only the guys cooked! Chef Zhikai did meegoreng.
Chef Joe made fish and beansprout. Kelvin did sambal fish.

I made some asam fish, but forgot to get lemon grass and tomato for it.

1 Year in Japan

Just a little note to say that September marks that I have been in Tokyo for 1 year. I can still remember the day I was at the airport, it seems like only yesterday. Anyway, thanks again to those who sent me off and also the well wishes. I am doing fine over here and I have finally started to work after various training. Settled down into a nice routine of work, my room, spending money and drinking.

Have I evolved? I thought I did not till I went back to Singapore. Somehow talking to my friends, people and just people watching made me realise that I have changed - for the better or worst.

I have grown.
Cynical | Worldly
Loner | Contemplative
Alcoholic | Socialising
spendthrift | Enjoying
Hardened | Independent

I am growing

How do you see it?

And another one goes bonkers

My Ipod just died on me. The Hdd just stopped working the other day. It has served me pretty well thru the years. It was bought at the time of my life where I still thought I was in full control of my life and that it was only going to go up. Pfff....young innocent times.

I guess life is a every learning process. You see, experience and realise that you can only control so much in life (90% in my opinion). The rest is just how you respond to it.

And now...who wants to sponsor a new one? Or a wallet? Or a Camera? Or donate to "Let Ansley Travel" Funds. Not forgetting the "Alcohol" Funds.
