飲み会

In Japan, there is a drinking culture. They have drinking parties after school or work or after shopping even. Put a bunch of 30++ people who is about to finish their 1st lap of training in a 居酒屋 (Izakaya ) and you get a 飲み会. It is usually a drinking buffet (alcohol and juices) for about 1500yen to 2000yen for 2-3 hours. Sometimes food comes in a set and sometimes you just order from the menu.




It looks like this since there are a whole bunch of people. Two long tables with people just walking around and changing seats. See if you can find me in there.

I am not drunk, just a little high.

After the first 2 hours, the night is still young. So what do you do? we go for round two, 二次会. This time round we do did not drink as much as the first round.




And sometimes we get a little too crazy.

Adventure Camp

Part of my training was a 3days 2 nights camp at Hakone. It was actually up in some moutain where there is nothing but the hotel.

Some team building and communication activities.

The adventure day which was actually pretty relaxing. Finding check points and doing some activities.

And group discussion. Almost like OBS but only simpler and all in Jap.

Like any true blue Japanese, we had a drinking session straight after the camp.

So what happens after the bomb on the once dependable plane which was looming precariously over the dark stormy sky finally drops.

Ground zero is in shambles.
The shocks still rippling. Not only just the surrounding gets affected; the bomb so great it shook the seabeds causing tsunamis crashing over the islands so far yet so near from the point of impact.

Corked: Festival of the Steel Phallus

Japan is a land of 祭り (Festivals) and today I went to Kawasaki for the Annual Kanamara festival

I reached there about 12 and the festival was just about the start.

And the first thing I saw was a man/woman with cat tail and paws. Sounds like a good start.


Behold the black steel penis.



I am not very sure why the is a huge drag display, but it was funny.

And next comes the Pink one!

Take a close inspection and you will find a tiny one over at the 3rd one.



They have a bunch of cheerleaders to bring the mood and spirit up


Even the foreigners come dressed for the occassion.

I wanted one of there handmade penis shaped candies, but the queue was insane

I have just about enough of it when another one popped up at the shrine

This is so wrong. The kid licking it earnestly.

They were also selling other variation of the sweets.

I wanted to get the smaller versions but could not find it anywhere, probably sold out.
There were pictures you can buy from the temple of the penis too.
