Kyushu, Kagoshima

We found a coupon voucher in a guide book and decided to go for some shabu shabu. The famous meat is the Black Pig (Wild boar), which is tasty stuff.

Kagoshima City had this structure erected and it shows the people were sent overseas (Singapore infact) and came back to help build the city.

The had trams, but what I actually like is that there were potions of the road which is has patch of grass growing (France has it too I think). I think it makes the road just a little nicer to look at.

In the trams, they had free umbrella services which you can take and use. When you are done with it, just return it to another box in whichever tram you take. I wonder if this will work in Singapore?



We did this Sand Onsen thing, where they bury you in hot sand. About 10-15mins is enough and of course you head indoors for the real onsen.


We visit a place where they set up for the Kamikaze pilots in hope of not repeating the same tragic events.


This walkway is actually in a movie. During the Sakura season, the whole stretch of road will be filled with the Pink Flowers.

The tea is also well know, not that I really know the difference.

We headed for a village which had samurai living there in the past.


They had such garden to reflect and settle their mind. Almost like the Zen gardens I visited.

Somehow the Japanese likes to put coins on some special places.



We decided to eat ramen since it is also pretty famous (Seems to be famous everywhere in Japan).
We then headed out to find a old traditional Izakaya (Drinking Place). I like such places because it is where you can really experience the old Japan. Definately not going to find youngsters here.

The owner was a little shy at first, but lucky the old men came in and started chatting with us. After a few rounds of alcohol, everyone were best of friends. They gave us plenty of advices, taught us some stuff and even discussed about the Japan culture. Learnt many things especially they way a Japanese think and why they are the way they are.
By the way, the guy on the far left is so drunk, it was so funny.

We had raw chicken meat which is a delicacy in Kagoshima.

We had plenty of drinks, some finger food and the owner only charged us 1000yen each. I felt bad and decided to give her more for her hospitality.

On another night over here, we had dinner with a Japanese Girl we met at Sakurajima. Ate plenty of local dishes and drank plenty too.


Raw Liver. Liver sashimi is pretty popular here I think. I actually found it more edible then cooked liver.

Flying fish is very popular here. Yum yum.
